Moving Household Goods And Personal Effects To Belgium

Please note. That many of these things will not apply to you if you are moving from another EU (European Union) State and/or you are a citizen of the EU (European Union) due to the free movement of goods throughout the EU.

Below is a list of the documents you will need when planning an international removal to Belgium:

  • Original Bill of Lading (OBL) / Express Release / Air Waybill (AWB) / Convention Relative Au Contrat de Transport International de Marchandises Par Route (CMR) – We will take care of this if completing the entire international removal to Belgium for you.
  • Removal packing list- We will complete this if you want us to undertake a full packing service for your removal
  • Copy of Passport (Of the individual moving/importing the goods) showing photograph and signature
  • Letter of Employment from the origin country stating that the customer has been employed outside the European Union for a period of at least 1 year
  • Certificate of Residence (Model 2) issued by local Belgian town hall of the city of residence
  • Certificate of Change of Residence (< modèle 8>) issued by the local town hall in Belgium where the client lived prior to departure abroad (returning Belgian nationals only)
  • Detailed moving inventory, valued and signed
  • Certificate for Free Entry

We recommend providing these as soon as possible to reduce delays with your removal to Belgium. Late receipt of documentation can lead to missed shipments, additional charges and penalties at Belgian Customs. For your own protection, we will almost never ship your goods without the above in place.

Additional Removal Advice

  • If possible, the letter of employment from the origin country should include the beginning and ending dates of employment and beginning date of employment in Belgium.
  • Any other official documents from the Embassy or the Consulate at origin stating that shipper has lived outside Belgium for the past 12 months should be included.
